Some New Zealand tobacco researchers have called on the government to allow the market to sell e-cigarettes containing a small amount of Synthetic Nicotine. The sale of nicotine patches has now been legalized.
Experts say research shows that e-cigarettes can help users reduce nicotine intake and bring them a healthier lifestyle. They called on the Ministry of health to relax its policy to allow Synthetic Nicotine e-cigarettes to be sold in New Zealand.

At present, it is still illegal to sell Synthetic Nicotine e-cigarettes in New Zealand, but Synthetic Nicotine e-cigarettes are supported by the government in the UK and can be bought everywhere, including supermarkets and corner stores. British Prime Minister Cameron gave a speech on supporting e-cigarettes. “I think we should really listen to experts… It is estimated that 100 million people have successfully quit smoking or completely replaced cigarettes with e-cigarettes with the help of e-cigarettes.” he said that using e-cigarettes is a “legitimate way” for many people to improve their health.

In New Zealand, only nicotine substitutes approved by the Ministry of health, such as nicotine patches and nicotine gum, can be sold. However, marewa Glover, an associate professor at the school of life and health at Macy University, said that nicotine contained in e-cigarettes is no more harmful than nicotine contained in legally sold smoking cessation alternatives (such as nicotine patches).
